A Life Well Lived

Bruce A. Buchanan , 75, of Fowler, died Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born, July 31, 1947, in Lafayette, to the late Noble G. Buchanan & Velma (Prather) Buchanan Albertson. He was a 1965 graduate of Oxford High School & a 1969 graduate of The University of Kentucky.  He married Virginia (Killebrew) Buchanan, February 18, 1972, in Tacoma, WA; she survives. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church.

Bruce enjoyed visiting & spending time with his family & friends; especially his grandchildren. He loved the Lord, farming, America, Kentucky basketball, country music & The Grand Ole Opry.  Bruce was very active in the community & in the Republican Party.  He served as the Benton County Republican Party Chairman for many years, and was a member of the Warren County REMC Board of Directors for over 30 years.  Bruce served on the Benton County Council for several terms, and was a Delegate to both Indiana GOP State Conventions, and Republican National Conventions.  Bruce was a recipient of the Indiana Master Farmer award in 2007, received the Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Holcomb in 2017 & a Kentucky Colonel award from Kentucky's Governor Louis B. Nunn in 1968. He was an avid supporter of the Benton County 4-H Fair and livestock auction & Benton Community School Corporation athletics, especially Bison Basketball.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Virginia Buchanan, Son, Bruce Allen (Jayme) Buchanan II, Daughter, Beth (Steve) Boyce, 6 Grandchildren, Mitchell, Blake & Luke Buchanan & Maggie, Kate & Mary Beth Boyce, 3 Sisters, Linda Vice & Glenda Buchanan-his triplet sisters & his younger sister Connie (Rodney) Frey & several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 405 E. Oxford St., Otterbein, IN. The celebration of Bruce's life will be Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10 AM, also at Otterbein United Methodist Church, with Pastor Linda Sproull officiating. Burial will follow at the Boswell Cemetery.
