Carl "Papaw" W. Waddle , 81, of Oxford, died Thursday, March 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 17, 1938 in Somerset, Kentucky. He married Joanne (Luttrell) Waddle April 23, 1960 in Oxford.

Carl worked at National Homes for 25 years & was a custodian at Benton Central, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Montmorenci Baptist Church. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking with his kids & grandkids. In his retirement you would find him sitting on his front porch "Howdying" everyone as they drove by.

Carl is survived by his wife Joanne, Sister, Katherine Bates, 2 Daughters;Cathy (Joe) Crowder & Tina (Andy) Coffman, Son, John Waddle, and Son-in-Law, Jon Coffman.  Grandchildren; Tonya (Bud) Van Dame, Crystal (Thamer) Mansour, Shawn (Amber) Coffman, Josh (Nancy) Crowder, Lilly (Kurt) Crowder-Lord, Cierra (Anson) Smith, Missy (Matt) Corns, Trent Coffman, Haylee, Myka & Larah Coffman. Great-Grandchildren; Ashlena, Nick & Kobe Landaker, Eli, Isabella, Anna & Aidan Coffman, Aya & Malik Mansour, Emma & Oliver Corns, Oliver & Hattie Crowder-Lord, Chayton Randau and great-great-grandchild Finnley Landaker-Kessell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver & Verda Rainwater, 2 Daughters; Mary Jo Waddle & Carla Coffman, 2 Sisters; Ola Jean Dick & Mary Howard, 4 Brothers; Odel, Don, Thomas & Charles Waddle & Grandson; Jakob Crowder.

Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2020 from 10 AM until time of services at 1 PM, with Pastor Linda Sproull officiating at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Burial will be at the Oxford West Cemetery. Immediately following the burial there will be a carry-in dinner at the Oxford Lions Club, 708 N. 5th St., Oxford.  Carl had requested everybody to dress casually.
