Carletta "Sue" Callahan, 77, of Lafayette & formerly of Ambia, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024 in Lafayette, Indiana. She was born, December 13, 1946; she was the daughter of the late Forest and Clarice Darliene (Hargrave) Geyer and was the eldest of five children. Sue was born and raised in Wayne County, Illinois where she was a graduate of Cisne High School in 1965. Sue later moved to Ambia, Indiana to be near family and in 2002, she relocated to Lafayette, Indiana where she had called home since. She was an adored employee of Purdue University from 1986-2010 where she created lifelong friendships and memories. There are countless stories of how the students loved her and viewed her as a second mother because of her kind-hearted and caring nature. She spent multiple years serving the community through Lafayette Urban Ministry and was a longtime member of Brady Lane Church.

Sue held many titles - daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, friend. Sue was known to everyone she met as a kind soul with a beautiful smile and pure heart. She also had an ornery side and enjoyed making jokes and poking fun at her loved ones, always with a teasing grin on her face. She had a love for gardening with a backyard full of vegetables and flowers that she would often use in her kitchen. Sue loved her family and always cherished the quality time spent with them.

She is survived by her two children, daughter, Amber Burton and son, Doug (Ronda) Phillips, brother, Ronnie (Diane) Geyer, sister, Rita (Jim) Garriott, sister-in-law, Debbie Geyer, four grandchildren, Eli (Taylor) Phillips, Riann (Jeremy) Ross, Abby (Kyle) Burton Plante and Elizabeth (Ty) Abbitt and four great-grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, Charles "Ed" Geyer and Gary "Mike" Geyer, son-in-law Danny Burton and grandson, Daniel Levi Burton.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at 10 am until the funeral service at 12 pm on August 30, 2024, at the Boswell Church of Christ, 310 S. Clinton St., Boswell, IN to reminisce and celebrate the life of Sue Callahan, with Jeff Keller officiating. Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery.
