Charles "Chuck" W. Mathis , 80, of Otterbein, died Friday, September 5, 2025. He was born in Williamsport, Indiana, on November 1, 1944, to the late Lewis Winfield "Winnie" and Agnes (Neal) Mathis. He married Halina (Nidunow) Mathis, on Aug 15, 1965, at Montmorenci Methodist Church. They just celebrated 60 yrs of marriage. After attending Williamsport grade school and Rainsville through junior high and he was a 1964 graduate of Pine Village High School. Chuck worked at Harrison Steel, Kroger and Fairfield Manufacturing as Assembly Warehouse Inventory Clerk; where he retired after 40 dedicated years never missing a day of work. He was a member of UAW Local 2317. He was a 50 yr member and Past Master of Otterbein Masonic Lodge 561. He attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Chuck enjoyed woodworking and made a lot of beautiful restorations for people. He loved any and all kinds of bells and had over 500 in his collection. He loved helping his friend on the farm during farming season and hanging out with his friends and neighbor and the guys at the coffee shop. Chuck absolutely adored his grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren. He always loved being around them or seeing their pictures.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Halina and their children, Traci (Dave) Narducci and Denny (Michelle) Mathis. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Caybree (Josh) Layton, Ceirsten (Andrew) Vaughn, Sydney (Ben) Southwood and Cameron Narducci, his loved and cherished great-grandchildren, Addison Layton, Raelynn Vaughn and Stevie Lynn Southwood, siblings, Anna Mae (Sonny) Comer, Joyce (Sam) Johnson and Linda (Wes) McDivitt and sister-in-law, Mary Kirts. He was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Kristina Gardner (Kristi aka Kiki), his parents, Winnie and Agnes Mathis and in-laws, Nick and Natalie Nidunow, brothers-in-law, George Kirts, Jim Hemersbach, Mike Hudson and Kenny Sanford, Jr. and nephew, Joe Sanford.

Graveside service will be at Armstrong Chapel Cemetery, 7720 N. Armstrong Chapel Road, West Lafayette, IN 47906, Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Paul Stamm officiating, with Masonic rites immediately following.
