Christena Louise Baugher , 95, died on March 10, 2025 at Westminster Village, West Lafayette, she had lived her life in Otterbein, Indiana until 5 years ago.

Christena was born August 11, 1929 in Shelby Township, Tippecanoe County, to the late Lewis and Esther (Keller) Baugher. She was a graduate of Otterbein High School in 1947, Elkhart Business University with a medical assistant/secretary degree in 1948 and completed the
Accomplished Clerical Excellence (ACE) Program from Purdue in 1994.

She was employed as a medical assistant/secretary in the office of Dr. Russell Flack for 20 years and retired from The Biology Department, Purdue University in 1994.

She was a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Otterbein until it closed and is now a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lafayette. She was a member of former Beulah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, now Order of Eastern Star West Lebanon Chapter 162, in which she served as a past Worthy Matron, in 1957, and received her 75 year pin in 2024. She was also a 30 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, General de Lafayette Chapter, NSDAR.

She is survived by five special cousins, Carol (Jerry) Rooze, Sandra (Mike) Funk, Janet Weigle, Joyce (Bruce) Janssen, and John (Kim) Keller, all of the Otterbein area. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Lewis Baugher.

Friends may call on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 1 PM until time of Eastern Star service at 1:45 PM with Funeral Services at 2 PM, with Rev. Dr. Gladys Nwabah officiating, at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Burial will be in the Montmorenci Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Otterbein Public Library.
