Cindy Haston , 64, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2026, telling everyone who would listen, "This is a beautiful world."

Humble, kind, generous, and adventurous, Cindy will be remembered by her friends, family, students, and loved ones as a woman of many interests, talents, and skills. A voracious traveler, a curious spirit, and someone who wanted to taste what life had to offer.

She was incredibly grateful for all the love in her life and for all the wonderful people she had the pleasure of knowing.

Cindy taught High School Theater at Connersville High School and Warren Central High School before earning her MLS and working as a high school librarian at Hamilton Heights High School. She then moved to Texas, where she worked in the Tatum School District for twenty years. She was especially proud of her Speech and Debate students and loved being their coach. At the end of her career she taught for a year at Crispus Attucks in Indianapolis before retiring to travel the world.

Born in Carmel, Indiana, she loved horses. She was a Navy veteran. She had more certifications than we could possibly list in this obituary, for everything from duck conservation to scuba diving.

Incredibly tenacious and strong, she put up an incredible fight against an aggressive Glioblastoma and never lost her sense of humor or her smile.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather; her brother Ron Haston; stepmother Sue Haston; stepbrother Tony Rhodes; sisters-in-law Amy Haston and Michelle Rhodes; her nephews Sam Haston, and Justin, Nathaniel, and Collin Rhodes; and her niece Madeline Haston. She was preceded in death by her brother Gregg Haston; her father Mike Haston; and her mother Geraldine Day.
