Cledith I. Sondgerath , 89, of Fowler, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at IU Health Hospital, in Lafayette. She was born, June 24, 1933, in Kidds Crossing, KY to the late Huie & Dovie (Dick) Anderson, and was the oldest of 10 children. She was a 1952 graduate of Freeland Park High School. She did clerical work for the highway department, the Tippecanoe County Welfare Department & Freeland, McGinnis & Lauerman for many years, where she retired. On January 23, 1982, she married the love of her life, Donald F. Sondgerath in Benton County, where they lived the rest of their days. Don passed away August 14, 2021. Cledith enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening & bird watching with Don. You could often find them on warm evenings waving to everyone who passed by on their way to & from Fowler.  She also loved her afternoon soap operas. Cledith really enjoyed bowling with her friends in the afternoon league in Fowler.  However, her favorite thing to do was just simply visiting & spending time with family & friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 Children, Tim Chafin, of Sacramento, CA, David (Elaine) Chafin, of Argyle, TX, & Gayle (late Rodney) Gillen of Boswell. As well as 3 Stepchildren, Paul (Sandra) Sondgerath, of South Haven, MI, Lisa (Robert) Hipps, of Oxford, IN, & John (fiancé Lisa) Sondgerath of Cutler, IN. Also surviving are her 4 Siblings, Calvin (Sharon) Anderson, Arvil (Janice) Anderson, Dale (Nancy) Anderson, Rosalie (Carl) Rodgers. Cledith is also survived by 12 Grandchildren; Courtney (Curt) Metzinger, Tara (Nathan) Garner, Christopher Chafin, Nathan (Laura) Hipps, Clay Hipps, Ben (Rachel) Sondgerath, Rachael Sondgerath, Michelle Sondgerath, Angela Sondgerath, Erin (fiancé Will) Sondgerath, Emily (Connor) Slavich & Evan Sondgerath & 7 Great-Grandchildren, Ian & Baylen Metzinger, Harlee, Pyper & Raegan Garner, Emma & Abigail Hipps & baby Slavich due in December. Cledith is preceded in death by her Husband, Don, Stepson, Guy Sondgerath, Stepdaughter, Ann Sondgerath, Granddaughter Nicole Sondgerath, Son-in-Law, Rodney Gillen, 3 Brothers; Gary, Neal & Harold Anderson & 2 Sisters, Julie Jordan & Andrea Messer.

Visitation will be Monday, October 17 from 10 AM until time of services at 12 PM, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in Dunnington.
