Cynthia J. Carlson , 80, of Boswell, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 peacefully at IU Heath Arnett Hospital, in Lafayette. She was born October 15, 1943 to David and Anita (Lowmon) Hinton. She and her six siblings attended Fowler high school. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Gay Estes, Barbara Hinton, Suzanne Bowman and her brothers, Bill Hinton and David "Sonny" Hinton. Robert Hinton of Boulder, Colorado survives.

She married Robert Skoog in 1960; they had three children, Robert (stillborn), Erik Skoog and Christine Byrne (Mike).  Later, in 1980,  she married John "Pat" Carlson they were married forty-three years, he survives. Cindy worked as a farm wife; it was always interesting to see a 4'11" woman driving a huge combine. She enjoyed gardening and making pottery. She volunteered at the Oak Grove Heritage House for their annual garden tour and holiday bazaar. She also volunteered her time to the Friends of the Oxford Library annual book sale. She was a worthy scrabble opponent, but she most loved spending time with her grandchildren, Megan Hardin (Stacey Allen) and Aaron Parker (Anika), and great-grandchildren, Grant Highfield, Vada, Kelisse, and Asher Hardin.

In accordance to Cindy's wishes there will be no formal service. There will be a Celebration of Cindy's Life at a later date.
