Doris Jean McCain Rhoades , 100, of Lafayette, died, Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was born May 1, 1922, in Lafayette, to the late Perry & Edith (Wilson) McCain. She married, Orvil A. Rhoades, November 1, 1946, in Lafayette; he died, July 4, 2009. Doris grew up in Delphi & graduated with honors, from Delphi High School. She was a graduate of Lafayette Home Hospital/Purdue University Nurses Training & was a Registered Nurse at Lafayette Home Hospital. She spent over 20 years caring for premature infants, while raising 5 children & answering the call of a devoted farm wife & neighborhood nurse. After retiring, Doris became a caretaker for her aging mother, Edith for 10 years; cared for her husband, Orvil, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's & became a heath care advocate for her Aunt Audrey, during her last days in a nursing home. Doris was a true caregiver & loved helping people. She enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, whittling, antiques & was always learning. She attended Grace United Methodist Church & Mt. Gilboa United Methodist Church.

Doris is survived by 3 Daughters, Laura (Erik) Gylte, Linda Rhoades & Jean (Rob) Ambrose, 2 Sons, Dan (Linda) Rhoades & Howard (Donna) Rhoades, 4 Grandchildren, Johnathan (Kerry), Brian (Kyra), Amanda (Tommy) & Leif (Kelly), 6 Great-Grandchildren, McCoy, Bode, Collins, Keller, Sadie & Charlotte, Sister, Juanita Showers & several Step-Grandchildren & Step-Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a Sister, Cecil Molnar.

Private Family services will take place.
