Elizabeth Mariley Crane , 25, of Otterbein/West Lafayette - independent yet always connected, innocent yet adventurous, carefree yet deeply engaged - passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025. She and a new friend had gone together to enjoy the sunset in Truckee, California just moments before an untimely accident. She was given the gift of life, and she returned that gift abundantly to those she loved and those she met.

Elizabeth was born May 25, 1999 to Sara (Larson) and Tim Crane. She was the youngest of four and grew up in Otterbein and West Lafayette, Indiana with her sisters, Abbi and Kylie and brother, Brady. She was a 2017 graduate of Benton Central High School and a 2021 graduate of Ball State University.

Immediately after earning her degree, her adventures began. Elizabeth knew what she wanted and never held back from pursuing it. Initially she began living the "van life." She procured an ancient Chevy full-size van - the luggage rack, ladder on the back kind - renovated the interior to Instagram levels of comfort and headed west. She found adventurous nomadic employment - ski resorts, golf courses, babysitting, pet sitting, house sitting - anything to deepen the pool of funds necessary for her one true love: travel.

Elizabeth had deep affection for Southeast Asia and traveled to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, as well as Malaysia, the Philippines not to mention Costa Rica, Cuba, Greece, and even Michigan. She had returned to Truckee just a day before her death with plans of working to provide for her next trip to Asia in August.

Elizabeth is survived by her mother, Sara (Jeff) Stumph, 2 sisters, Abbi (Caleb) Kissel and Kylie Crane, brother, Brady (Katie) Crane and nephew, Banks, grandmothers, Norma Crane and Janice Larson, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father Tim Crane, and her grandfathers, Ron Crane and Vic Larson.

Elizabeth was an independent, free-spirited soul. Every waterfall, every sunset is worth chasing. There is no use in waiting or stressing when adventure is just over the horizon.

Visitation will be held at Connection Point Church located at 2541 Cumberland Avenue in West Lafayette on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Connection Point Church on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Elizabeth's Family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth's name to Kesem at Ball State ( https://www.kesem.org ).
