Gerald "Jerry" Fred Smith , 84, formerly of Boswell, died, Friday, July 12, 2024. He was born, October 8, 1939, in Boswell, to the late Fred Monroe & Irene (Herndon) Smith. He was a 1957 graduate of Boswell High School. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1961; being stationed in Germany in 1958. He worked as a steamfitter at Purdue University, retiring after 38 years. Jerry was a lifelong Purdue Boilermaker fan. He was a part time standup comic & never shied away from a joke or a prank.

Jerry is survived by his Son, Kyle Smith, 2 Daughters, Karalee (Charles) Ratliff & Elena (Joseph) Purcell, 10 Grandchildren & 7 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 Brothers, 2 Sisters & 2 Grandchildren.

In accordance with Jerry's wishes there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Earl Park American Legion Post #455, PO Box 85, Earl Park, IN 47942.
