J. Elaine Kirsch, 84, of Boswell, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

She was born on January 3, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late James W. "Red" Walker and A. Jewell (Palmer) Walker. She attended Middle Tennessee State University.

Elaine formerly owned and operated Kirsch True Value Hardware in Boswell. Throughout her career, she also worked as a bookkeeper for AgVenture Seed Co., Butler Implement, South Side Apartments, and Plunkett Tool & Die.

Elaine cherished time spent with her family, and her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was an avid Purdue Basketball fan and could often be heard enthusiastically coaching the team from her living room while watching games on television. She was also a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Kim (Jay) Dixon; three grandchildren, Michael Ford, Alyssa (Gabe) Anno, and Austin (Colette) Dixon; and four great-grandchildren, Jaedyn and Henry Cotten, and Deacon and Dahlia Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Ford, and her sister, Joyce Buck.

A Celebration of Elaine's Life will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Boswell Free Methodist Church, 402 S. Old U.S. Highway 41, Boswell, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Bethany Abbott officiating.

The family requests casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boswell Free Methodist Church.
