John "Roger" Houghton , 93, of Otterbein, died, Tuesday, October 1, 2019. He was born July 24, 1926, in Concord, MI, to the late Lisle & Lillian (Barkholtz) Houghton. He married, Elaine (Stanton) Houghton, May 22, 1948, in Jackson, MI; she died, October 18, 2001. Roger worked at Spartan Corporation as a quality control inspector in Albuquerque, NM. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army touring the south Pacific. He enjoyed driving around in his 1953 MGTD & Native American archaeology of the Southwest.  After retirement, Roger spent hundreds of hours volunteering at local cultural centers in Albuquerque. After moving to Indiana in 2014, he enjoyed pampering his two cats, doing crosswords, coloring, word searches, and visits to Joyful Journey where he created amazing artwork.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Nancy Lee (husband, John), 2 granddaughters, Lauren Lee Johnson (husband, Tanner) & Jenna Lee as well as great-granddaughter, Claire Johnson.

A Celebration of Roger's Life will be, Saturday, October 5, 2019, from 4:00-6:00 PM, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 405 E. Oxford St., Otterbein, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Almost Home Humane Society (where he adopted his cat, Lexi) or "Friends of Tijeras Pueblo" Archaeological Site, Tijeras, NM (where he volunteered for many years giving school children Native American history tours).
