John Patrick "Pat" Carlson , 79, of Boswell, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 peacefully at University Place, in West Lafayette. He was born March 12, 1945 to John and Eleanor (Moyars) Carlson. He and his two sisters attended Oxford High School. Pat later attended Purdue to study Agriculture. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Condry. His sister, Janice Carlson of Belleville, Illinois survives.

He married Cindy (Hinton) Skoog in 1980, taking on the challenge of instant fatherhood of two preteen children, Erik Skoog and Christine Byrne (Mike). They were married forty-three years; she passed away in August of this year. He is survived by grandchildren, Megan Hardin (Stacey) and Aaron Parker (Anika) and great-grandchildren, Grant Highfield, Vada, Kelisse and Asher Hardin.

Pat started farming in 1963 and semi-retired in 2014. He was a member of the Pine Village Masonic Lodge 315 and the former Boswell Masonic Lodge. He served in the Indiana National Guard. Pat had served Benton County, for several years, as a County Councilman. He was a gentle, quiet and reserved man that was kind to animals and anyone he met.

In accordance with Pat's wishes there will be no formal service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Benton Community Food and Service Co-Op. PO Box 298, Oxford, Indiana 47971.
