John W. Weber, 83, of Boswell, passed away in Lafayette IN, after a brief illness, on December 14, 2020. John was born on December 11, 1937 in Paxton, IL. He was the son of the late William F. "Bill" Weber and Lois (Zick) Weber of Thawville, IL. He graduated from Roberts-Thawville, in 1956 in Roberts, IL & received awards in FFA, 4H, & Sports. He also attended the University of Illinois in Agriculture.

He married, Judith M. Sturm, April 25, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Roberts, IL. In June of 1959, he became Assistant Mgr. & bookkeeper of the Roberts Grain Co. until November of 1963 and was transferred to Talbot Grain Co. in Talbot, IN as the manager. In April of 1974, John & Judy went on to keep raising their purebred Spotted swine & received numerous awards from State and National shows & had 2 production sales a year. In November of 1977, he got into the Grain business again at Talbot Grain Co., Lafayette Co-Op in Lafayette, IN, Demeter Inc. Tab Division. He then transferred to Archer Daniels Midlands at Hoopeston, IL until retiring on March 1, 2005. John was in the grain business for 43 years & raised Spotted swine for 30 years. He served as chairperson of the Northwest & West Central grain districts, United Families Against Drugs, & on the Benton Co Financial Council Board from 1970 to 1980, chairperson of the Purdue University boar test station, Benton-Warren County PorkProducers, National Spotted swine board 6 years & President for 5 years, served 40 years as 4H leader, was on Benton Co 4H Council Board, serving as president for 15 years & Benton County 4H Swine Superintendent for 14 years.

John's hobbies were antiquing, fishing (especially in Canada) & attending all sporting events his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. He enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs and their winning of the World Series in 2016. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist church for 35 years. He served several years on the Pastor Parish committee & was a head usher.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years Judith Weber & Children: Jill (Michael) Butler, West Lafayette, IN, Joy Weber Rountree, Boswell, IN, Jayne (Scott) Hoelscher, Geneseo, IL, & Jack (Sara) Weber, Earl Park, IN. John was preceded in death by a son-in-law Michael Rountree. His Grandchildren are Travis Barrett, Jacob (Mariah) Hoelscher, Amanda (Patrick) Wessol, Brett (Carly) Butler, Emily Butler, Reann Weber, Grace Weber & Lily Etter. Great- Grandchildren are Harper & Beckett Butler, Oliver Wessol, Ziah, Scarlet & Alastor Hoelscher, Chloe & Evan Beil & Raegen Couch. John is also survived by his Brothers, Gene Weber (Jeanne) of Fairbury, IL & Michael Weber (Susan) Champaign, IL, as well as many Nieces & Nephews. John was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Brother. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Private family services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
