Obituary

Lelia L. LaBounty , 98, of Boswell, died, Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born June 25, 1925, in Nancy, Kentucky, to the late Rufus & Zalie (Norfleet) Buchanan. She was a 1943 graduate of Nancy High School, attended Sue Bennett College, in London, Kentucky & was a 1945 graduate of Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. She married John LaBounty, January 19, 1948, in Boswell; he preceded her in death January 19, 2014. She was a member of the Boswell Free Methodist Church. Lelia taught school while living in Kentucky & was a true dedicated farm wife, working beside John around the farm. She enjoyed quilting, painting & refinishing furniture. Lelia was a true jack of all trades.

Lelia is survived by her Son, Doug (Wife, Jody) LaBounty, 3 Grandchildren, Seth (Erica) LaBounty, Britte (LaBounty) (Husband, Jim) Purtee, Carly Jo LaBounty & 4 Great-Grandchildren, Quinn & Ryan Purtee, Eyan Rinkenberg & Zaylie Pugh. Preceding her in death are a Son, Dennis LaBounty & 2 Brothers, Noble & Glenn Buchanan.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Boswell Free Methodist Church, 402 S. Old US Highway 41, Boswell, from 11 AM until time of Memorial Service, at 12 PM with Pastor Bethany Abbott officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boswell Free Methodist Church. Shoemaker Funeral Home- Otterbein is assisting Lelia's Family.
