Mary F. Moore , 91, of Otterbein, passed away on, December 28, 2023, at 5 Star Senior Living in Lafayette. She was born June 21, 1932 to Schuyler A. & Hazel D. (Heaton) Matthews in Cando, ND. On August 3, 1958, she married her true love, Richard "Dick" L. Moore, at the Cutler Presbyterian Church, in Cutler, IN; he preceded her in death, October 22, 2023. Mary & Dick shared 65 wonderful years as husband & wife.

Mary was a 1950 graduate of Cutler High School & 1954 graduate of Purdue University. After her graduation, Mary taught home economics at Fowler HS, for 7 years, until starting a family.  Mary enjoyed being a teacher & working with & around students her entire life. When her children were young, Mary was a farm wife, substitute teacher in the Benton Community Schools & finished her Masters, at Indiana State. As her family grew older, she worked in Purdue University's food service until retiring & then continued to work part-time, for many years thereafter. Mary's real joy was her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She loved visiting them, attending their activities & teaching them how to cook. Mary was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church & Order of Eastern Star West Lebanon Chapter 162.  Mary was active in many organizations around Otterbein & Benton County. Mary was involved with the Benton County fair board, for many years & served with her husband on the Otterbein Public Library board. The Otterbein Public Library honored Mary & Dick by having a room in the library named on their behalf. Mary was a life-long Boilermaker fan & enjoyed attending Purdue women's basketball & football games.

Mary is survived by her four sons: Richard D. (Rachel), Douglas R (Lindsey), Brian D. (Shwu Hui Ellen) & Kenton M (Kara); her grandchildren Kaley Long, Clint (Bailey), Reid, Mary Catherine, Kaelan, Jacob & Lucas Moore, Hillary (Austin) Eltzroth, Cade, Chase, Calli & Caitlyn Snethen & Henry Thomas; her great-grandchildren Sydney Long, Knox, Hank & Briar Moore, Korbin, Kensley & Shelbey Eltzroth. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her mother & father & her brothers, Tex & Dave Matthews, her sister Jane (Dale) Moberly & her daughter-in-law Shelley J. Moore.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 405 E. Oxford St., Otterbein, IN with visitation from 10 AM until services at 12 PM, with Eastern Star Service at 11:45 AM. Burial will be at Pond Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otterbein Public Library PO Box 550, Otterbein, IN 47970 or the Otterbein United Methodist Church 405 E. Oxford St., Otterbein, IN 47970.
