Mary Kathryn Pitts , 85, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026,peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 23, 1941, in Lafayette, to the late Ulys Budreau and Laura "Lolly" (Gretencord) Budreau. She graduated from Wadena School in 1959. On July 25, 1964 Mary married Melvin Joseph Pitts from Dunnington where they called home for 62 devoted years.

Mary devoted her life to her faith, her family, and the simple joys of home and farm life.

Mary was an exceptional seamstress, a wonderful cook and baker and a woman whose home was always filled with warmth and love. No one ever left her house hungry or empty-handed. Whether she was preparing meals, sewing for loved ones, or offering quiet encouragement, Mary gave endlessly of herself to those around her.

Alongside her husband, Melvin, Mary raised their four children while working tirelessly on the family farm. She dedicated herself completely to her family and embraced the values of hard work, compassion, and faith throughout her life. A devoted Catholic; Mary lived her faith daily through her kindness, generosity and unconditional love for others.

Mary taught her children and grandchildren many important skills in life, including sewing, baking and cooking, but most importantly, she taught them how to love unconditionally and care deeply for family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the traditions she lovingly passed down.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Melvin; her son, Michael (Tina) Pitts; her daughters, Michelle Ferraro and Melva (Randy) Lowry; and her cherished grandchildren, Meghan (Ed) Center, Joe (Trista) Pitts, Hanna (Tyler) Santuro, Nicolas Ferraro, Maria Ferraro, Angelo Ferraro,  Lorenzo Ferraro, Olivia Lowry and Claire Lowry. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Max and Ella Center and Lucas, Myla, and Lorelei Pitts. She is also survived by four sisters, Lois Souligne, Ruth Budreau, Lynn (Tom) Clark and Gale (Denny) Rhodes and two brothers, Duane Budreau and Alvin (Lori) Budreau. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Maria Pitts, with whom she is now reunited once again, her brother Paul Budreau, sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Kenny Strasburger and brother-in-law, Dave Souligne.

Mary will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous heart, her strong faith, and the beautiful home and family she nurtured throughout her life. She leaves behind countless treasured memories that will live on for generations.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2025, from 1 PM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 3 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2960 S. State Road 71, Fowler, IN (Dunnington), with Father Sean Aaron officiating. With Rosary at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Foundation in Mary's honor.
