Melissa Ann Hancock , 52, of Otterbein, died Friday, July 10, 2026. She was born, July 22, 1973, in Indianapolis, to Janice (Staggs) Shoaf & the late Jerry Joe Johnston. She married, Brad Hancock, October 24, 2015, in Pigeon Forge, TN; he survives. Melissa was a 1992 graduate of Benton Central High School & was a 2013 graduate of Ivy Tech, with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She was employed as a Respiratory Therapist, at the Indiana Veterans Home. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her family & friends, gardening, diamond painting & watching races.

Melissa is survived by her Husband, Brad Hancock, Children, Morgan (Peter) Giacomini, Aric (Hannah) Chambers, Cyler (Michelle) Hancock & Bradley (LeOnna) Hancock, Grandchildren, Lily, Noah, Nora, Vincent, Caleb, Tyler, Madison, Logan, Samryn, Amaya, Emilyn, Marissa, Brailyn, Zayden, Kyzer, Kyzlynn, Kynzlee & Kayze, Mom, Janice (Will) Shoaf, Sisters, Melanie & Amber Johnston, Aunts & Uncles, Carolyn (Willard) Bonwell, Delbert (Marla) Staggs, Pam Staggs & Candace Calvert, many Nieces & Nephews & many many cousins. She is preceded in death by her Dad, Jerry Joe Johnston, Paternal Grandparents, Max & Mary Jean Johnston & Maternal Grandparents, Harold & Ethelene Staggs.

Visitation, to Celebrate Melissa's Life, will be, Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4-7 PM, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Casual attire is requested by Melissa's family.
