Pastor Donald Ray Smith , 73, of Sarasota, FL & formerly of Boswell, passed away, Sunday, August 15, 2021. He was born July 7, 1948 in Lafayette, to Geraldine Alley (Pries) Smith & the late Robert Smith. Don grew up in Boswell, & was a 1966 graduate of Boswell High School. He went on to graduate from Ball State University, before he returned to Benton County to begin teaching Government & coaching basketball, at Benton Central Jr/Sr High School. In 1976, he attended seminary & began his ministry. He pastored several Methodist churches in the area, was itinerate pastor & pastored New Life Agape Fellowship, in Boswell for 17 years. While living in Boswell he served on the Boswell Town Board, for several years & helped at the former Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home. Pastor Don went to Sarasota in 2006; from Charlotte, North Carolina. He loved pastoring & teaching the bible and was an Associate Pastor & member of the Myakka Family Worship Center. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his Wife of 47 years, Carol; Children, Kimberly Kult (husband Jeff); Michael Rohan (wife Mindi) & Heidi Chawkins (husband Neil); Mother, Geraldine Smith; Sister, Diana Reed & Grandchildren, Michael, Mya, Allison, Chaz, Christopher, Caison & Ben. In addition to his Father, Don was preceded in death by his Brother, Bryan.

A Celebration of Pastor Don's Life will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Forever Grace Church, 6351 North 650 West, West Lafayette, IN 47906, from 10 AM until the time of Memorial Service, at 11 AM with Pastor Gary Sims, Gary Ishmiel & Gary Goen officiating. A Fellowship Luncheon, to share memories & continue to celebrate Pastor Don's life, will immediately follow, at the Benton County Annex, 410 S. Adeway, Fowler, IN 47944.
