Patrick Michael Douglas , 61, of Brookston, Indiana, passed away at his home on September 9, 2025. Pat was born on March 16, 1964 to the late Alfred and Rosemary (Donelson) Douglas. On November 21, 1987, he married Jennifer Gretencord, his high school sweetheart.

Pat dedicated his life to his family - his wife, their 9 children, and their 12 grandchildren, and to Kirby Risk, where he worked for 36 years starting as a mechanic and ending as the Plant Manager. He served on the Technical Education Committee at Ivy Tech (2014-15) and was an active member and contributor to the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) for over 30 years, serving as Secretary of the Indiana state chapter (2018-22) and publishing articles in EASA's newsletter.
His mechanical knowledge and skill was valued at work and at home. He was passionate about sharing this knowledge and was the go to person for problem solving. Pat made sure that his children were capable in mechanics, electrical work, and woodworking. His co-workers valued his listening ear, his always-ready helping hand, and his enduring patience. His children, however, can attest that they were capable of finding the limit to his patience, and pushing an inch or two past it.

He was a recent member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a long time member of St. Charles, Otterbein; where he taught CCD and served on the Parish and Financial Councils.

He will be remembered by his loved ones for his unwavering generosity, his direct communication style, and his sense of humor, all of which he continued to practice through his final hours. He demonstrated how to live with cancer and pulmonary fibrosis, bravely and without self pity.

Family members that will dearly miss Pat include his wife Jennifer (Gretencord) Douglas, his brothers: Jim (Jan) Douglas, Tom (Becky) Douglas, and Cooper (Jackie) Douglas; children: Mary (Wyatt Long) Gretencord, Bryan (Morgan) Gretencord, Holly (Joe Young) Gretencord, Kayla (Ashish) Dhankhar, Rick (Heather) Douglas, Neil Douglas, Josie (Vighnesh Maheshwari) Douglas, Andy Douglas, and Anna Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Connie), in-laws (Joe and Shelly), and a step-grandchild (Jordyn).

The viewing will take place at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Otterbein on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 4pm - 8pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:45pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Ave, West Lafayette, IN 47906 at 10am. Interment will be at St. Mary's Dunnington, Catholic Church.
