Richalyn Grace (Larrabee) Moore was born on July 30, 1940, to Richard and Gladys (Kell) Larrabee. She grew up in Montmorenci, Indiana, down the street from her grandparents. She spent her childhood playing with her sister and cousins and reading many books, including Anne of Green Gables. She continued to be an avid reader throughout adulthood as she challenged herself to read 52 books a year for several years.

Richalyn graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1958 and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education from Indiana State University. She taught for 28 years, spending most of her career teaching second grade at North Vernon Elementary. She also taught at Logansport and Vernon. She poured a lot of energy into her students' education, from reading in animated voices to decorating her walls with handmade decorations.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher sorority. After retiring, she joined Delta Sigma Kappa and held positions as president, parliamentarian, and treasurer. She was also a member of Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church.

During her retirement, Richalyn enjoyed traveling, including a visit to the house that inspired Anne of Green Gables. She enjoyed traveling to all 50 U.S. states. She and her husband, Ted, saw the country from all angles—up high flying in a hot air balloon near Sonoma, California, and down low riding in a submarine along Hawaii's coast.

After college Richalyn discovered a love for flowers, and she was able to tend to her garden even more during retirement. She spent hours on her hands and knees cultivating her flowers, including more than 100 types of daylilies—her favorites.

Beyond all else, Richalyn treasured her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her favorite people who called her "Nana"—Tyler, Chelsea, Calandra, and Chloe. She also raised two daughters, Michelle and Camille. She spent many hours watching them at dance recitals and drill team performances, and she treasured reading "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" to them each year. Richalyn loved gathering around the kitchen table with her daughters and grandchildren to tell stories about her life growing up.

On June 13, 2024, Richalyn passed away at age 83, joining her parents and her sister, Margaret "Margie" Schmidt, who preceded her in death. Her memory will be treasured by her living family members—her husband, Ted Moore; daughters, Michelle (Steve) Deaton and Camille (Chris) Weaver; grandchildren, Tyler (Agnieszka) Wardrop, Chelsea (Brett) Furmanski, Calandra Weaver, and Chloe Weaver; great-grandson, Harrison Wardrop; and golden retriever, Corky. They would like to thank the Franciscan Health staff for their kindness and care.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 10 AM until the time of services at 12 PM, at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, 7720 N. Armstrong Chapel Rd., West Lafayette, IN 47906, with Roger Seehafer officiating. Burial will be at Armstrong Chapel Cemetery.
