Sheri L. (Johnson) Massie , 62, of West Lafayette and formerly of Boswell, went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2023, and is now rejoicing in Glory with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on April 9, 1960, to Dale Johnson and Rebecca (Dimmich) Allen in Lafayette, Indiana. She grew up on the family farm near Boswell, Indiana and attended Boswell Elementary School. In 1978 she graduated from Benton Central High School and went on to attend Indiana Central University. She later attained a master's degree from Purdue University. In July 1982 she was married to Dennis Massie, sharing 40 wonderful years of marriage together. She spent 17 years as a homemaker while raising and educating their children, Ben and Rachel. For nearly 20 years she taught high school English, spending the majority of her teaching career at Benton Central High School. Sheri cherished her interactions with her students and strove to spark a lasting desire for learning. She completed her professional career as the head librarian for Benton Central.

She enjoyed the many years that she spent living in rural Benton County and the quiet, small-town community life it provided. In her childhood she enjoyed camping, adventuring, sightseeing across the United States on family road trips, and spending time with her grandparents. Sheri spent a few summers working in Yellowstone National Park, making lifelong friends. She greatly valued creating memories and spending time with her family. The opportunity to enjoy a chance to laugh, dance, and have fun was never turned down; and she was always fully present in every interaction with her children and five grandsons who adored her. She was a true student of God and was steadfast in seeking truth and understanding of the Bible. In the five years spent with a cancer diagnosis, she never complained, using her situation as a testimony of the Lord's faithfulness, peace, and His promise of Eternal Life for whoever seeks Him.

Sheri is survived by her husband Dennis Massie; her son, Ben Massie (wife, Kelly), West Lafayette; her daughter, Rachel Nemacheck (husband, Victor), Frankfort; her five grandsons, Greyson, Sawyer and Finn Massie and Adler and Copeland Nemacheck; her brother, Steve Johnson (wife, Susan), Lafayette; her sister, Carmen Bacon (husband, Todd), Crawfordsville; and her mother, Rebecca Allen, of Greencastle. Sheri was preceded in death by her father Dale Johnson.

Visitation will be held at Connection Point Church located at 2541 Cumberland Avenue in West Lafayette on Friday, March 17 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Connection Point Church on Saturday, March 18 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Boswell Cemetery in Boswell, Indiana.
