William "Billy Mac" McMurtrie, 63, of Lafayette, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1963, in Lafayette to the late John and Joan (Lyons) McMurtrie. Billy Mac was a 1981 graduate of Benton Central High School. He worked as a travel agent for more than 20 years, a career that allowed him to visit many countries and experience the world firsthand. Most recently, he was employed at Cat Logistics. Billy Mac was an avid sports fan, especially the Purdue Boilermakers and the Chicago White Sox. He loved cooking, and most weekends you could find him in the kitchen making his famous "Egg McMurties," reading the paper, with ESPN playing in the background. He enjoyed spending time helping on the farm and relaxing with a Budweiser. Music was another passion, and he attended many concerts over the years. Above all, Billy Mac dedicated his life to being the best father to his children and the best grandfather to his grandchildren. His love, humor, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Billy Mac is survived by his son, Josh McMurtrie; his daughter, Olivia McMurtrie; two grandchildren, Hunter and Violet; his sister, Susie (Kelly) Good; and his niece, Anna Good. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice (John) Inman.

The visitation, to Celebrate Billy Mac's Life will be Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 3pm - 7pm, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10 am, with lifelong friend & former classmate Pastor Jeff Weiss, at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein.
